School of Eretz Israel

In the 1920's a new wave in art was emerging, one that was the first iteration of Israeli art and whose artists are the most prominent when talking of Israeli art to this day. Such artists as: Reuven Rubin, Nahum Gutman, Tziona Tager, Israel Paldi, Menahem Shemi and many more. Those artists, mostly new immigrants from Europe, were infatuated by the Levantine light and sights, which were so different from the lush European view, and used impressions of the people, towns and landscapes of the land as a way to express their creativity as well as to channel the feeling of the period and the Hebrew state that forms.
here you will find works by artists of the movement during and after the periods of which the movement worked.
