Aryeh Rothman

Aryeh Rothman (1921-2007) was born in Vienna, Austria. In 1940 he immigrated to Israel as an immigrant. Between 1953 and 1954 he served as the secretary of the Kibbutz Painters Association and from 1948-1949 worked as an illustrator for the newspaper "Mishmar LeYeledim". In 1959 he began studying etching at Johnny Friedlander in Paris. Upon his return to Ein Hamifratz in 1961, he set up an etching workshop and turned the medium into the heart of his work.
