Michael Argov

Michael Argov (1920 - 1982) studied at the Avni Institute and the École Nationale Supérieure Des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he lived for over a decade.

In the mid 50's he showed figurative paintings in bright colors and a Mediterranean atmosphere, but in 1959 semi abstract origins where beginning to show with an emphasis on rhythmic shapes and the color white. in the late 60's he "discovered" the corrugated cardboard  which he pasted and hardened, allowing him to accentuate rhythms using colorful shapes. he later returned to these works with fiberglass casts, as he emphasizes architectural elements.

In the last decade of his life he experimented with many materials and mediums like collages out fabrics and sand.
